About

Saint Brychan ap Anlach of Brycheiniog was a legendary fifth-century king of Brycheiniog in Mid Wales, remembered in Welsh hagiography as the father of a great multitude of saintly children. According to tradition, he was a Christian monarch who raised a family renowned for holiness, and many of his sons and daughters became saints venerated across Wales, Cornwall, and Brittany. Though history and legend intertwine in his story, Brychan stands as a figure of the early Celtic Church, representing the piety of the Christian princely families from which so many of the saints of Britain sprang.

Suggested prayer

O God, who blessed Saint Brychan with a family of saints, grant through his intercession that Christian parents may raise their children in the fear and love of your name. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
