About
Saint Cyfyw was a sixth-century princess and pre-congregational saint venerated in Cornwall and Wales. Born of royal blood in the Celtic lands of early medieval Britain, she embraced the Christian faith and is remembered as a patron of Llangyfyw (also called Llangeview). Like many of the early Welsh and Cornish saints, her story has come down through local devotion and the dedications of churches rather than through written hagiography. She stands among the holy women of the Celtic Church who, though little known beyond their localities, helped root the Christian faith in the villages and valleys of Britain.
Suggested prayer
O God, who inspired St. Cyfyw to embrace the faith in the Celtic lands of Cornwall and Wales, grant through her intercession that we may be faithful witnesses to Your love in the places where You have placed us. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
