About

Saint Cynllo was a British saint of the late fifth and early sixth centuries, generally described as a brother of the more famous St. Teilo. He was known, in the words preserved by tradition, for "the sanctity of his life and the austerity of his manners." His chief shrine is the Church of St Cynllo at Llangunllo in Wales, where his memory has been kept since ancient times. Though overshadowed by his brother in the written record, Cynllo's own reputation for holiness and discipline endured among the Welsh, and his feast is kept on July 17. He represents the circle of related Celtic saints whose family bonds became channels of grace for the early Church in Wales.

Suggested prayer

O God, who adorned St. Cynllo with the sanctity of life and austerity of manners, grant through his intercession that we may pursue holiness with the same disciplined devotion. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
