About

Saint Eigrad, also called Eugrad, was a sixth-century Welsh saint and the founder of St Eugrad's Church in Llaneugrad, on the island of Anglesey. A member of the early Christian community that brought the Gospel to the Welsh, he established a church that bore his name and served the people of that ancient island. Little is recorded of his life beyond the foundation itself, yet the church at Llaneugrad stands as a quiet testament to his devotion. In an age when the saints of Wales planted the faith church by church across the land, Eigrad took his place among them, leaving a house of prayer as his enduring legacy. He is venerated among the holy company of Anglesey's early saints, whose memory the land itself preserves.

Suggested prayer

O God, who moved St. Eigrad to found a house of prayer on Anglesey, grant through his intercession that we may build up Your Church in our own day, leaving a legacy of worship for those who come after us. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
