About

Saint Maron, also called Maroun or Maro, was a 4th-century Syriac Christian hermit monk who dwelt in the Taurus Mountains, devoting himself to prayer, fasting, and solitude on the path of holiness. After his death, his followers founded a religious Christian movement that became known as the Maronite Church, which is presently in full communion with the Holy See and the Catholic Church. The religious community which grew from this movement are the modern Maronites, who trace their spiritual patrimony to this pioneering hermit. His feast day is observed on 9 February.

Suggested prayer

O God, who called St. Maron to the solitude of the mountain and founded through him a people devoted to Your name, grant through his intercession that we may seek You with undivided hearts and remain steadfast in communion with Your Church. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
