About
Pancras was a young Roman martyr of the early fourth century. According to tradition, he was born in Phrygia and came to Rome as an orphan, where he converted to Christianity. He was beheaded during the persecution of Diocletian around the year 304, at the age of about fourteen.
A church was built over his tomb on the Via Aurelia, and his cult spread widely across Europe. In England, St. Pancras Old Church in London is one of the oldest sites of Christian worship in the country.
He is venerated as a patron of children, youth, and those who suffer injustice.
Prayer
St. Pancras, who gave your life for Christ at fourteen, pray for children and for the young, that their faith may be brave and their hearts pure. Amen.
